Cardiff Medicals RFC has a very proud 80 year history of high quality rugby and social unity. Welcoming students from Medicine, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Nursing and other Healthcare degrees, all players and social members develop an incredible sense of team spirit which is obvious both on and off the field. It is true that once a Cardiff Medic, always a Cardiff Medic. The club currently has 2 teams and caters for players of all abilities. Both teams compete in the British Universities & Colleges Sport competitions with the 1st XV playing in BUCS Premier B alongside Cardiff University 1st XV in the forthcoming season. As a Medical School club, Cardiff Medicals also compete in the National Association of Medical Schools cup, which they have won for the last 12 seasons with the most recent final being held at the Cardiff Arms Park. This along with winning the annual fixtures against United London Hospitals RFC and Combined Dublin Medical Schools has led to them being branded the British Isle’s premier club in medical school rugby. As well as competition on the field the club has a very important social aspect, with weekly post-match socials and several larger events being held throughout the year. These range from the infamous Toga night to an end of year Old Boys Match and Black Tie Dinner – an event in which the season’s achievements are celebrated with both players past and present. Each year, during the Six Nations competition, we hold a club tour to one of the competing countries allowing all members to combine on the field competition, international rugby and fine social interaction. As a medical school based club Cardiff Medicals understand the demands of studying a healthcare degree, this is very much reflected in the demands of the club and the support it provides in making sure that all members are looked after in every aspect of their student lives.

Cardiff Snakecharmers cheerlead for the university's American Football team as well as competing in national championships. We are made up of two competing squads and a cheer squad. This year saw the elite squad win first place at Regionals and second at Nationals, whilst the intermediate squad took home third place at Nationals. We are part of Aiuchi Jui Jitsu Association and this helps to provide our club with the support we need, such as for gradings and courses. Over the year we take part is various national events where we get the opportunity to train and socialise with a wide range of people from all over the country. WE LOVE TO PARTY! Within our club we socialise together on a regular basis. We have drinks after every training session, go on nights out regularly and take part in other random activities. This year we are arrangeing various day trips such as paintballing and to Go Ape (high ropes course). ITS EASY TO TURN UP! Korfball is a mixed sex sport that originated in The Netherlands. It takes aspects of basketball, netball and handball and combines them into a unique sport. The club attends several tournaments a year, hosted by other university teams throughout the UK. These lead up to the Nationals held in March. We also play regular games in the Welsh league. So if you want to come along and play an exciting new sport or simply want to get fit and have a good time doing so then Korfball might be the sport for you!

Ladies rugby is a brilliant way to get fit, make new friends and play an exciting fast paced and rapidly growing game. And most importantly both on and off the pitch we have a lot of fun. We welcome ladies of any age, size and experience. We know that starting a new sport can be daunting but the majority of our players only start playing at university and we have experienced coaches who can cater for all abilities, from never touched the ball before to international level. Ladies rugby is one of the fastest developing sports in the UK so now is the time to join. Most of our girls began playing rugby at uni and many are soon playing for other club teams as well and representing their country in the sport. As a club we have training twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays on the 3G pitch at Talybont. And weekly games on a Wednesday afternoon. And not to forget the very important weekly socials. We’ve competed in BUCS west division 1A for the past four years and have just been promoted to the South Premier division this year after an impressive performance last season with an undefeated run. We are also currently undefeated in the Varsity competition with Swansea. Most importantly we are also one of the most social clubs in the AU and have entertaining socials every Wednesday night. In the past we have had a diverse range of social themes including superheroes, Miss World, Mr Men and smurfs. We also have Christmas dinner, end of season dinner and the annual pub golf – all nights that are not to be missed! Our annual tour each year during the Easter break has brought Cardiff Ladies Rugby to Italy, Newquay and Amsterdam in recent years and always proves to be one of the most enjoyable and most memorable events of the year.

To continue the fine tradition initiated by the University of Wales College of Medicine of providing access to hockey training, matches and socials at suitable times for Cardiff University's Healthcare student population. We are very privileged as a group of healthcare students to be able to field our own team alongside Cardiff's own university side, since there are not many other medical schools who are in the same position. For this reason we need to continue to play well and show the Athletic Union that we really do appreciate our team!

We train twice a week: Sunday 16:00 until 17:30 - improving all aspects of the game and giving us the opportunity to practice different skill sets and set plays under the ever watchful eye of our lovely coach Thursday Evening - We have a compulsory fitness session to make sure we're in peak physical shape, or near enough anyway. We play on a Wednesday in our BUCS leagues: 1sts - Western Conference 3B 2nds - Western Conference 4B We also compete in the Knockout Women's Western Conference Cup On Saturdays we then have a further chance to compete in a league consisting of local teams - this is an opportunity for students who don't play on the Wednesday, but is open to everyone We have unforgettable socials throughout the year, whether they be post-match, mixed socials with the boys or one of the bigger socials that we have dotted around the year, they are excellent opportunities to get to know the others in your club, have some fun and really let down your hair after a hard day's lectures. We have NAMS matches against other medical schools and a couple of tournaments during the year. These are mixed matches, and we travel and stay at the other unis or they come to us and we put them up for the night and show them the delights of Cardiff. They are always fun, and the coach trips alone shouldn't be missed!

To continue the long tradition of medical sports at Cardiff University and to provide a platform for allowing people to play for a team competing at the upper levels of BUCS and Saturday league hockey, without forcing a time-consuming and high pressure training schedule on it's members.

The Cardiff University Men's Basketball Club exists to provide all our members with the best possible experience basketball can offer, regardless of individual skill level or background. We deploy 2 teams in BUCS competitions to give as many players as possible the chance to experience representing Cardiff in a competitive surrounding. On top of inter-university competition, we also offer open court days once a week in order to give all members a chance to stay in shape and enjoy the sport.

Cardiff University Mountaineering Club is one of the biggest and most active sports clubs in the Athletic Union. As a club, we pride ourselves on being to able offer one of the most wide ranging and entertaining experiences for all our members, from total beginners to more experienced climbers and mountaineers. We offer something for everyone; from the immense snow covered mountains of the alps to our awesome social nights out to. There is great scope for complete beginners and experienced climbers alike to explore, play and push themselves in situations many people would never even dream of! Anybody with a passion for the outdoors, fun and friendliness will suite CUMC with the only limit in this club being your own enthusiasm.

Our year is packed full of trips from sunny day trips to the limestone cliffs of the Gower to the wild, snowy heights of some of Scotland and the Alps grand summits. Each week we visit the local indoor wall on both a Tuesday and Thursday and every weekend we run day trips to crags in the South East Wales area, such as the cliffs of the Gower, the Wye Valley or venture up into the South Wales valleys. We try at least once a month to have a whole weekend away further a field in the UK such as the Peak District, North Wales, Cornwall, Portland, the Lake District. There are plentiful opportunities for climbing, adventures and banter and when not on the crags we can be found at the pub or out on various silly socials. For the more competitive out there, we have our climbing academy, which trains regularly on Wednesday afternoons. It concentrates on the improving climbers technique, strength and abilities concentrating on indoor climbing and bouldering. Our bouldering team for BUCS is formed from academy members.

The Cardiff University Rifle Club is an active and successful sporting group. Whilst being participation focussed we regularly compete at a high level in competitions both against other Universities and nationally. Whether someone has never held a rifle before or has shot internationally we are able to cater for them. Coaching for all members is given on a one to one basis by experienced shooters to ensure the safest and highest quality coaching possible. If new to the sport, members are trained in the safe handling and operating of firearms and then taught to shoot. If competitions are more what they're after then we enter plenty to get involved with. It's an easy to pick up but difficult to master sport with plenty of opportunities and is very rewarding. Shooting takes place every Wednesday afternoon from 14:00 at an indoor range in Cardiff about 15 minutes (walking) from the Student's Union. We mostly shoot small bore target rifle at 25 yards although occasionally shoot outdoors at 50 metres and 100 yards when the weather improves. We also try to arrange an annual trip to shoot larger calibres at the National Shooting Centre. After shooting we usually have a social which can vary from pubbing around town to an organised social such as going ice skating before Christmas. Cardiff University Swimming and Waterpolo Club is one of the most successful clubs within the University. Our Swimming and Waterpolo teams compete throughout the year in BUCS and numerous other competitions too. This year, the Swimming team aims to continue its march up the divisions of the BUCS Team Championships and to put in another strong performance at the Shortcourse and Longcourse championships in Sheffield. The women's polo team managed an impressive Bronze medal in the top division of BUCS in 2010-2011, and this year they'll be aiming to do even better, whilst the men's team has its sights on a swift return to the top division. As ever, we welcome everyone to our training sessions, no matter how experienced you are. Swimming is a fantastic way to improve your fitness, make friends and do something a little different to the norm! CUSWPC was formed in 2000 after the once separate Swimming and Polo clubs merged. Since then the club has firmly established itself as one of the largest and most successful clubs in the Athletic Union. Both the men's and women's polo teams have strong records at BUCS, a tradition that looks set to continue, and the current swimming team is one of the strongest the club has seen in some time.

Swimmers train two evenings a week, with one session open to all abilities, and one for squad members only. The water polo club trains three times a week, with guys and girls training together for one of these sessions. The highlight of the week; our Socials are every Wednesday night, with fancy dress, drinking games and finishing up in our famous union!

There are around 150 different societies, the list is endless, as is the choice, but whatever society you join you are guaranteed an introduction to a whole new circle of people, interests and places to socialise in Cardiff!

Article 25 is a UK registered charity that designs and delivers architectural and engineering solutions for those in greatest need worldwide. As a student chapter, we will be responsible for promoting Article 25 and similar organisations, raising money and encouraging members to network.

We will be raising awareness of humanitarian aid charities through series of events, such as workshops based on projects Article 25 have completed, and lectures from representatives and volunteers. These will be on a variety of topics ranging from local architecture to other peoples experiences in foreign/developing countries. We hope that this will provide a chance for you to see how your chosen career can be applied in less orthodox ways and possibly seek work in such places. In addition to this, we aim to promote career opportunities with humanitarian aid organisations and encourage students to be proactive and get involved with the charities they have seen.

Our mission is to introduce the amazing art of capoeira to Cardiff University students. We will do this through training sessions twice a week with our experienced instructor, Contra Mestre Claudio Campos. During the classes, students will be taught the movements and music that make capoeira. We will encourage members to improve their fitness, strength, flexibility and rhythm. And to have fun whilst doing it!

We train twice a week, Wednesdays from 8-10pm in Canton Community Hall and Fridays 7.30-9.30pm in Talybont Sports Centre. Classes involve training the kicks, defences, acrobatics and other movements involved in capoeira, as well as learning to play the instruments and to sing in Portuguese. We will also have regular 'rodas' during the classes, which is when two people play the game of capoeira while the rest of the group makes the music. We hold regular social events at our sponsor's venue, Gwdihw and will do occasional performances, with the support of other capoeiristas from Cardiff and Bristol.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent international medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid in more than 60 countries to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural or man-made disasters or exclusion from healthcare. In emergencies and their aftermath, MSF rehabilitates and runs hospitals and clinics, performs surgery, battles epidemics, carries out vaccination campaigns, operates feeding centres for malnourished children and offers mental health care. When needed, MSF also constructs wells, dispenses clean drinking water, and provides shelter materials like blankets and plastic sheeting. Through longer-term programmes, MSF treats patients with infectious diseases such as tuberculosis, sleeping sickness and HIV/AIDS and provides medical and psychological care to marginalized groups such as street children. Founded by doctors and journalists in 1971, MSF is now a worldwide movement with sections in 19 countries and an international coordination office in Geneva, Switzerland.

Cardiff University Friends of MSF raises funds and awareness for MSF through charity events, information nights and speakers, all the money of which goes directly to MSF itself.

As a society we intend to provide dance classes which aim to improve dance technique, fitness and confidence. We offer the opportunity to all our members to perform and to become part of Troupe which is a select group of FAD who perform and represent the society in many different events. Above all, the aim is for members to enjoy themselves and have fun shaking their Funky Arse.

We provide three dance classes a week on a Wednesday, catering for all levels of ability. We also hold regular socials for the members and plan to go on tour each year.

Hallo! Every week we hold a social on a Tuesday, starting at 7.30pm. We have a Stammtisch for the first 3 weeks every month, followed by a big event every fourth week. In our Stammtisch meetings, we meet in a local pub - eat some food, have some beer and socialise. It is an opportunity for German people to practice their English and English people to practice their German. We're a friendly bunch and no pressure on anyone to speak any German! Non German speakers are welcome too, a chance to pick up a few phrases from the Erasmus students. But basically we aim to have a bit of a laugh and relax during the week :)

We are GRIMsoc. Goth Rock Industrial and Metal society. we are Cardiff's version of the ROCKsoc but we are better. We appreciate all types of music that isn't normally played in most classic clubs such as Glam or Tiger Tiger, however as long as you enjoy some form of 'alternative' music you will be more than welcome and enjoy your adventures with us. Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatu allah wa barakatuh (the peace, blessings and mercy of God be upon you) The Cardiff University Islamic Society (Cardiff ISoc) is an organisation formed by students, for students, to increase understanding about the religion of Islam and attempt to dispel the myths and misconceptions surrounding recent world events. In addition, the society strives to support the Muslim student, to be free to practise their faith and socialise with peers in an otherwise intimidating environment. Cardiff ISoc runs events throughout the year, and range from small socials to events running over a whole week, furthermore we have regular sporting events; these are open to all, regardless of race, gender or creed. In all our decisions, we strive to follow the revelation of the Qur’an and the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Cardiff ISoc is chartered through the Cardiff University Students Union and is an affiliate of the Federation of Student Islamic Societies in the UK (FOSIS). FOSIS is the premier Muslim Student representative body, as well as the Muslim Council of Wales. The society is not affiliated to any political groups and steers clear of pursuing a sectarian agenda. Although we are an independent body, we collaborate with the wider Muslim community, incorporating local mosques, schools, colleges and youth groups. We respect differences of opinion both amongst Muslims and between Muslims and other faiths. “Knowledge is of two kinds: that which is absorbed and that which is heard. And that which is heard does not profit if it is not absorbed” narrated by Ali ibn abi Talib (may God be pleased with him). “The Dearest to Allah is the most beneficial to the people”, saying of the Prophet Muhammed (peace and blessings be upon him).

Kenyan Orphan Project was started in 2001 by medical students to support orphans and vulnerable children in Kenya on issues of health, education and social welfare. Fighting poverty, disease, social exclusion and injustice. KOP is committed to sustainable projects that will continue to assist local people for the long term and not just provide temporary relief Since then more than 500 students from 14 different UK universities - including CARDIFF since 2007 - have been helping to support KOP projects. 2011 will see the fourth KOP Cardiff trip to Kenya, with the trip, as well as society membership open to people from all courses.

The Kenyan Society is a society for one and for all, wanting to provide something for everyone. It aims to introduce the enriched Kenyan culture in to Cardiff showcasing the county's food, clothing, dialect and history; bring Kenyan students all around Cardiff together; help those first year Kenyan students feel at ease away from home; and furthermore it aims to raise awareness of the political, social and economical issues in Kenya which would give many an insight of hardships faced by people in developing countries. Kenya is known to many for its wildlife, sceneries, warm weather, beaches and rich culture. It is a country filled with various races, religions and ethnicities all working together with hope for bright futures. Kenya – our pride, our nation!

The Mission statement for the Korean society is to allow the members to experience the Korean culture and the chance to meet current Korean students. Your chance to join the Korean wave^^ The Korean wave refers to the surge of popularity of South Korean culture around the world since the 21st century, especially among the Millennial Generation. While the popular throughout the Asian continent, spreading to India, the Middle East, Central Asia, Iran, Israel, Turkey and Russia. Currently, the Korean wave is starting to hit the shores of the UK.

We aim to cultivate educational, social and cultural awareness and understanding amongst Malaysians and other communities in Cardiff and the United Kingdom in general. We believe it is essential to provide a platform to instil patriotism as well as celebrating diversities in each others’ cultures.

Every year, the Society organises three main events that cover the aspects of education, arts and culture, and sports. Our target is to expose Malaysia’s beautiful and diverse culture to foreigners as well as expand our horizons within the Malaysian communities in Cardiff, across the United Kingdom as well as Europe. Our most renowned event, the Festival of Diversity, was given its name by the Student Union, and has been by unspoken tradition, the opening or closing act during Go Global, the official ‘international week’ of Cardiff University. The Cardiff European Games organised by the Society is also the only major sports event held by a Malaysian Students’ Society in the UK, which incorporates universities from Europe and is authorized by Education Malaysia. The events held by the Society have clearly earned recognition from various organisations and parties. Apart from that, we do organize socials for our members once every fortnight, ranging from movie outings to day trips. We provide a platform for members to relax from studies and give them a opportunity to hangout with fellow Malaysians while experiencing the Welsh and British culture.

MANS was set up by Nursing and Midwifery students for Nursing and MIdwifery students. Time at university can be tough, especially when studying a course like ours, and everyone needs to let their hair down once in a while. We organise brilliant nights out ranging from fancy dress to pub crawls as well as raising money for a chosen charity through fun events. We are here to ensure you get what you want from university and have a great time during it.

Our aim is to make music more accessible to anyone who is at the University. The OTS provides students exposure to a pre-professional program. it provides educational opportunities to our fellow students through workshops and seminars. It grants occasions for students to form strong friendships and obtain information through networking with other students and faculty. It provides students the means to have group socials and engage in fun activities, whilst assisting with the balance between work/education, play/leisure and rest components of their lives.

We are a pre-professional, student run, organisation which provides opportunity to OT students and OT professionals to get involved and become knowledgeable about the OT profession through guest lectures, community services and social functions

If you have a passion for photography, come and join the Photography Society. We welcome all students who are interested in photography, and we cater for both film and digital interests. As a member of our society, you will have access to darkroom facilities alongside the opportunity to use our cameras. Throughout the year, we will organise competitions for members which could result in your work being displayed within the university or at local galleries. We plan to run visits to exhibitions,and we endeavour to invite guest photographers to our meetings. There may also be an opportunity for the society to take a day-trip to London. Cardiff University Pole Dance Society provides pole dancing classes to our members in a safe, relaxed and social environment, allowing the individuals to improve their strength, flexibility, coordination, confidence, and self-esteem. We also offer a number of FREE fitness classes per week which complement pole dancing and allow our members to become well-rounded dancers, with an emphasis on fitness rather than the stigma associated with pole dancing. It’s a fantastic achievement to master the spins, holds, technique and control necessary within the sport and we support and encourage each of our members to feel that sense of achievement as they improve through their lessons - regardless of their gender, size and shape. We promote a healthy body shape, not a thin one.

The overall aim of the society will be to provide an outlet for reggae and Caribbean music amongst Cardiff’s student population. Many students express an interest in reggae music and so we as a society would hope to provide a means for them to explore that interest not only in terms of musical appreciation, but also in helping them find out more about the music’s cultural and historical past. Included in this would be the whole spectrum of ‘reggae music’ and its influences on more modern music as well as other aspects of Jamaican and Caribbean culture. We would also hope to provide a platform for those students who are involved (or would like to be involved) with reggae and Caribbean music in a performance context, i.e. live musicians, dancers, DJs and other performance artists. Primarily, these goals will be achieved by running a number of educational events (e.g. film & documentary nights, guest speakers) alongside musical events (putting on evenings of live music & DJs). In addition to this, we would hope to involve groups and individuals already based in Cardiff and the surrounding areas to help us to offer ways of exploring other aspects of Jamaican & Caribbean culture, for example by organising events focussed on Caribbean cuisine. This would be aided by utilising contacts already known to the society’s founding members and those gained by reaching out into the wider student body.

Welcome! And if you've been here before, welcome back! We are the Cardiff University Science Fiction & Fantasy Society. During term time we meet every Monday evening at 7.30pm in Milgi Lounge (213 City Road, Cardiff) to discuss anything related to sci-fi and fantasy, and every Friday evening at 6.30pm we decend on Birt Acres Lecture Theatre in Bute Building. Several times each year we have a costume party with prizes for the best costume. We also have other random sci fi events throughout the year including: conventions, pub crawls, tournaments, games, meals, secret santa and so much more.

The aim of the society: To enable university students to gain PADI qualifications, which are world renowned, how ever experienced the student may or may not be. In doing this we aim to bring together likeminded people to experience diving recreationally and to enhance any course or career choices where applicable. Scientific diving is about engaging people in an underwater experience to further enhance knowledge of the environment, trust between others, and also to improve research in this unique environment. This society appeals to many people whether your interests lie in underwater photography, coral reef conservation or mapping habitats etc. as well as those who wish to dive recreationally. It enables you to explore a whole new world. Our society appeals to both beginners, with try dives and opportunities to qualify, and to more advanced divers with further opportunities to gain higher qualifications, or to specialise in environmental and scientific aspects of diving. We operate our diving through Ocean Quest, who are based in Porthcrawl and have many highly qualified diving instructors.

Sexpression is a sexual health and relationships education programme. We teach individually designed lessons to 11-18 year olds in South Wales’ schools. Currently we deliver 5 interactive lessons including puberty and a lesson on sexually transmitted infections. Games, presentations and discussions are incorporated to make lessons stimulating and thought-provoking. Each Sexpression volunteer is specially trained in sexual health topics, teaching methods and child protection to ensure that they feel fully competent. The society is run by an enthusiastic committee with lots of experience. We are dedicated to providing good sexual health education, and ensure our material is continually developed and improved. Being a volunteer dramatically improves communication skills and confidence, and is a lot of fun!

History In 1999 five medical students from The University of Wales College of Medicine, as it was then called, were invited to Novinki Children's Home outside Minsk; one of 35 orphanages in Belarus. The 200 young people aged 5-25 living there all have disabilities ranging from autism to schizophrenia and Down's syndrome to severe cerebral palsy. Many of the children are victims of an impoverished society. Their families often live in Minsk but are too poor to afford childcare or be able to stay home and look after them. In Novinki, the children were regarded as objects to feed, change and deal with rather than children that deserved care and stimulation. The fifty high dependency children were being looked after by two carers working 24 hour shifts. BACCUP have been sending students to the Novinki Children’s Home since then and have managed to change how the children are treated, fed and made sure that the children have their nappies changed when required. They also make sure that the children get the stimulation and care that they deserve. Thanks to many, many kind donations, BACCUP along with other charities working in Novinki have helped to achieve some amazing changes within the orphanage: * Carers and BACCUP have worked together to improve working practices of the orhpanage and BACCUP have been able to supplement the wage of a teacher * Unit 4 is now a ‘medical’ ward enabling greater government funding for care * A stick is no longer used to punish the children * Food is served in bigger, healthier and more nutritious portions * The children have enough clothes and shoes which fit better * There are more nurses to care for the high dependency children A new caring ethos has been developed in Novinki enabling the children to develop as the carers to feel more valued and sympathetic. The students have been involved in a challenging and rewarding project. We feel that every student who has been to Novinki has had such an amazing experience.

What does our project do? BACCUP have a few sustainable projects including education, health and rehabilitation. BACCUP currently supplement the wage of one teacher who teaches some of the more capable children and encourages them with their reading, writing and speaking. They also do a fantastic job caring for the children: feeding, bathing, dressing and playing with the children. The money would therefore mean that we can carry on supplementing their wage, which costs £5 per day. The children require a lot of rehabilitation because most of their limbs have contractures due to many years of neglect. "Passive movements" provided by the groups helps with this, but toys are often used to encourage their improvement. These are used in the sensory room which as the name suggests appeals to all of their senses. The money would therefore go towards providing more toys and sensory objects for the children to further their rehabilitation. What are our goals? Our goals are specific to the two orphanages we currently work in. At our project in Cheven we want to: * create a sustainable project * improve the everyday lives of the children in Cherven and to provide them with love and attention * involve the carers and orphanage in making these changes * improve the carers knowledge and skills * try to integrate the children into the local community * have a more structured timetable of activities for the children on the days when we are present in the orphanage and to organise fun activities and passive movement workshops for the children * To keep a record of the children in the units we are working in. At our older project in Novinki we aim to: * consider an exit strategy – including finding a sustainable way to continue supplementing the wage of a teacher * decide on a suitable expenditure for our fundraising money * continue with our care plans, trips and general love and attention.

Slash Dance is a dance Society, formed in 2007 by some ambitious ,hard-working and creative indiviuals. It first set out to be a hip hop musical dance society incorporation HIP-HOP//SLASH Ballet //SLASH Latin //SLASH Jazz// SLASH Contempory//SLASH all sorts of different types of dancing... hence the name "SLASH" Slash has changed over the years, trying to incorporate many different styles of hip-hop dance, including house, locking, popping, waacking, tutting, krunk and many more. We hold a workshop each year where choreographers from Cardiff and London come down to teach their style of dance. Expect BIG names :).

This society exists to promote pro-life causes to Cardiff students.

We aim to educate students through arranging speakers reknowned in their fields, and travelling to the annual prolife student conference in Scotland. In this coming year, we also aim to help facing pregnancies through providing contact details for related organisations, and by fundraising.

Wildsoc is a society dedicated to increasing awareness of local and global conservation issues among students of Cardiff University. The society also aims to undertake direct conservation efforts at a local level through fundraising and work parties at local nature reserves. Associations between Wildsoc and Non-Governmental Conservation Organisations (NGOs) would be mutually advantageous through fundraising and advertising. We aim to establish such links and act on them with campaigning and fundraising events that will provide our members with experience in charity work and should provide a fun and exciting opportunity for education and involvement of the student community of Cardiff. Through educational courses and trips members should encounter conservation at work while enjoying a social, friendly atmosphere. Opportunities for networking among fellow students and conservation bodies associated with the society should be frequent for Wildsoc members. The primary aim of Wildsoc for the academic year 08/09 was to increase membership and participation in events. This was achieved successfully with the society picking up ‘Best Society Activity’ and runners up for ‘Most Improved Society’ at the society awards. The emphasis for the academic year 09/10 has shifted towards increasing Wildsocs’ influence and participation in environmental issues within the university and local community, through fundraising and awareness events, while continuing to run successful social and educational events. Our recent merge with the Local Wildlife Trust is an exciting venture, one that will expand upon the people we meet and work with, and future role in relevant environmental issues.

We aim to provide fun and educational activities, from getting muddy outdoors to scientific talks by wildlife experts. The society is an opportunity for people with similar interests meet and put their passion to use, while usually involving many and opportunity for dressing up and of course, drinking! More sober activities include: -Nelson Vern: conservation work at a local reserve conducting coppicing, litter picking, trail clearing etc. This year we hope to explore more of the parks owned by the Local Wildlife Trust -Llysdinam: Cardiff university's very own field centre in the middle of Wales, set in idyllic countryside, is an awesome weekend for badger watching, bird ringing, bat walks, otter stakeouts, and visits to local areas of interest. -Campaigning: If you feel there is a local environmental issue you want to fight for, we'll make it happend! Last year many hours of hard work were put into saving Bute Park. Thankyou! -Educational talks: Through the monthly events held with th Local Wildlife Trust and its members, to tours around museums, zoo, parks, or even out in the field when foraging for fungi, or admiring Cardiff's local wildlife. -Camping: For the tougher of you, impromptu camping trips are loved by all! -Competitions and fundraising: Raffles, photography competitions, socials, buckng sheep nights, parties. -Birdwatching

To provide great value, fruit, salad, vegetables and stir fry ingredients to the student community and promote sound nutrition and healthy eating in the wider community.

We sell reusable-bags (all customers and required to return their bags for future use) of fruit, salad, vegetables and now stir fry ingredients to the Cardiff Student and staff community. We operate every Tuesday in the Snooker/games room, on the third floor of the Student's Union, where students and staff can order and pay one week, ready for their goods to be collected the following week. We also now have an on-line ordering service.
