			Cardiff Award Development & Volunteering - Activity / Appreciation Society Parent group: Cardiff University Students' Union Web site - Mission - What we do - Contact: Email group officers The Cardiff Award is an employability award that encourages students to undertake work experience or get involved in extra-curricular activities, then recognises and rewards students for their efforts. It takes you through a process that will give you the confidence and skills to be successful in the world of work, after graduation. This is a closed group for students who have been accepted onto the Award for 2012 - 2013. For more information on the Award and how to apply for the next intake visit our website. Students need to complete 70 hours of work experience and/or extra-curricular activities. The Award provides all participants with professional training through the provision of employer skills sessions and interview training. We aim to improve your professionalism, your self-confidence and self-awareness, in addition you'll be more focused on your final career.

			Skills Development Service (Formally the Student Development Unit) The Skills Development Service provides a range of courses to improve your personal, employability and transferable skills. Skills Development Service courses can also assist you in building up evidence in your Personal Development Planning (PDP) portfolio. The courses are broken down into three main areas: Certificate of Professional Development Available in 3 grouped disciplines: Communication; Personal Effectiveness; Leadership. Each group is divided into 5 separate skills. Certification is attained by attending all 5 sessions in the group and completing a short evaluation. Health, Safety & Wellbeing Short courses and sessions such as 1st Aid, Stress Management, Self-defence techniques etc. Specialised Courses British Sign Language (50 hours tuition) and STEPS To Excellence (5 x 4 hour sessions). *Certificates are awarded for successful completion.*		£0
