Albus Dumbledore once said that "Humans have a knack for choosing precisely the things that are worst for them." But honestly, what did he know about anything?! Choose us, we’re brilliant!

From the beginning of the 2011 semester, the Cardiff University Harry Potter Society will be voyaging into its Seventh year, flaunting its status as the coolest kid on the proverbial Society Street. At its helm a friendly rag tag scallytraggle of students, boozehounds and mugwumps are all waiting to steer the good ship Potter into a prosperous new year.  With weekly meetings and regular events planned, the society really packs a punch ("You can't give a Dementor the old one-two!") when it comes entertainin’ the masses. Our schedule of events always provides variety, with a vast range of socials, catering for everyone from the hardcore shippers, who wish only to convert you to their match-making ways, to those who like drinking as much as Hagrid does. Discussions, quizzes, pub crawls, Balls, games, fanfiction, film screenings, outings . . . we have it all and more!

Not to be outdone by a speccy midget with a scar on ‘is ‘ed, our sixth year was more eventful than a bagful of dwarves! The Second Triwizard Tournament included a rather draconian game of hide’n’seek in Bute Park, Ten Pin Bowling, and culminated in an action packed Camping/Assault course extravaganza in the Gower. We also successfully hosted out fifth annual Yule Ball, and you know, we were pleased as punch about the whole thing! Even grander plans are afoot for 2011/12 , including the Third Triwizard Tournament – The game, is on!
