As usual the freshers trip to the peak district was a success, with two days of great climbing in surprisingly good weather!

The two minibuses’ got off in good time, and after stocking up on food and beer we were off! One bus started the drinking games early on, drinking if we passed a lorry, got passed by a lorry, went under a bridge or drank the entire time going over a bridge (which was fun going over the river seven! The drinking was all the time accompanied with upbeat music including the good old Rizzle Kicks.

Upon arrival we all hit the pub, had a few more then went back to the hut and got too bed, everyone looking forward to getting up for climbing in 6 hours’ time.

Everyone was up and ready early and we managed to be out and on our way to Stanage by 10. We arrived to a strangely quiet crag, but as expected as the day wore on, more and more people arrived to make the most of a dry weekend this late in the year.

It was almost dark by the time we left, and while one bus heading to the shop, then got the food on, the other made the smart decision that the hut was too cold, so after putting the heating on, headed back to the pub for a sneaky few. The traditional chilli was served up, and after a very efficient clean up, we all headed back to the pub, where Vlad got very confused by peoples games. After everyone was suitably drunk we headed to the hut, and got the Sock Wrestling tournament on the go!

After clearing up on the Sunday morning we headed to Birchen Edge, where after listening to the French loose at rugby, we got climbing, even Tom after an impressive fall on his 1st climb. People started winding down, and after hurting my ankle, I got together a few others who were done to the day, and heading again to the pub to have a relaxing pint before getting back on the bus and heading back to Cardiff after a great weekend.
