CARDIFF UNIVERSITY NETBALL CLUB 2012/2013

Club training takes place at Talybont on Sunday evenings and is led by team captains and the 1st team coach. On Monday evenings we have the infamous fitness training with Gary Fish, our own personal mascot and Mr. Motivator. To ensure players are being stretched to their full ability Friday morning training has been introduced, dedicating time to our first and second teams. Wednesday afternoons define the Cardiff University Netball spirit as all of our teams have matches and many members give a lot of support from the side-lines.

All teams will play in the BUCS league while the newly introduced sixth team will play in the IMG university league. Whilst still being part of the Cardiff University Netball Club the sixth team will only be invited to attend fitness sessions on Monday but will have training sessions offered at the availiblity of coaches.

Our weekly Wednesday socials guarantee to be the best night of your week! Our social secs, have a little message for you: “Next year is only just around the corner, you have no idea what we’ve got in store...” Last years social themes included OAP’s, Avatars, ringmasters and clowns and the occasional team theme – you may forget what it’s like to go out looking socially acceptable!

The Netball club does also have some nights of sophistication- a Christmas meal with some comical mid-season awards, end of season meal and awards night and the AU ball where this year we had a number of players nominated for awards to recognise their talents.

Netball tour can only be described as a whole week of Wednesday’s. With matches against some “interesting” teams from across the UK the incredible social and sporting atmosphere throughout Salou promises to provide many unforgettable memories, bringing girls of the club closer together.

The club likes to do our own bit for charity too, this year raising £800 for the Teenage Cancer Trust and Alzheimer's Research UK with a bag pack at the local Tesco. For the past few years we’ve had girls running the Cardiff half marathon for their own charities and this year we helped out on a water station.

The Fresher's Fayre this year will be held on Wednesday 26th September- this is your chance to come along, chat to the current Netballers about what an amazing club we are and sign up to trial on the following dates.

Fresher trials are due to be on Saturday 29th September 2012, those girls selected will be asked to trial again with the existing club members on Sunday 30th September 2012.
