Student Council is made up of 70 elected representatives from different areas across the student population.

Below is a break down of who sits on student council and how they are elected. Feel free to get in touch with the councillors for any issues you wish to bring to Student Council. Their contact details can be found on the menu bar to the left.

Elected by Cross Campus election in March each year to take up the role in the following academic year:

  • 1 Student Council Chair
  • 8 Elected Officers: President, Academic and University Affairs Officer, Welfare Campaigns & Communication Officer, Finance & Commercial Officer, Societies Events & Activities Officer, Athletic Union President, Healthcare Integration Officer and Head of Student Media
  • 8 Part Time Elected Officers: Ethical & Environmental Officer, International Students' Officer, LGBT Officer, Mature Students' Officer, Postgraduate Students' Officer, Students' with Disabilities Officer, Welsh Students' Officer and Womens' Officer

Elected by Cross Campus election in October each year to take up the role for that academic year (any positions above un-filled will also be elected through this by-election):

  • Block of 15 - This group is made up of 15 general students from any demographic across the University

Elected by specific means through their own relevant forum:

  • 15 Activities Representatives made up of the following:
    • 5 Athletic Union representatives
    • 7 Societies representatives
    • 2 Student Led Services representatives
    • 2 Student Volunteering representatives
  • 15 Academic Representatives made up of course reps
  • 8 Minority Group Representatives elected through the relevant associations made up of the following:
    • 2 Heath Park Students
    • 2 International Students
    • 2 Mature Students
    • 2 Postgraduate Students

The remaining seat is taken up by the General Manager of the Students Union
