What is SVC?

SVC is a charity run by the students at Cardiff University. The biggest student run charity in Wales, we volunteer in and around the city of Cardiff. Running over 35 projects we work with the elderly, young, disadvantaged and vulnerable members of the community (see projects menu). With such a wide variety of projects to choose from you’re bound to find something that interests you. In the ‘About SVC’ menu you will find more information on our history and the people behind the scenes in the office and ‘Exec’.

Volunteering is a great way make a difference in the local community and to meet new people – it’s also a lot of fun! ‘Employability’ is the new buzz word within the University. Through SVC you can gain many new skills and experience that will make you stand out from the crowd come interview time.

If you can’t commit to a whole year of volunteering, don’t worry SVC still has something to offer. This year we are organising a Volunteering week in the spring semester. During this week we will be hosting a number of events that will be fun, raise SVC’s profile and give you the opportunity to volunteer in one off events. We also hope to be running a variety of other one off events throughout the year. Everyone is welcome to join even if you don’t end up volunteering this year as there will be so much to get involved with.
