Welcome to Cardiff University Tennis Club! 

The tennis club is one of the largest sports clubs in the university, consisting of 4 men’s and ladies competitive teams as well as a large social tennis section.

Social Tennis

Players of any level are welcome. The club provides beginner and intermediate professional coaching on a Wednesday afternoon at the price of £1 per lesson. If you would rather just have a hit there will be plenty of like minded people looking to play and we also have a social league which started two years ago and is very popular! This all happens each Wednesday from 1pm-5pm.  There are many free courts available at our associate tennis club – Cardiff Lawn Tennis Club, which is located in the centre of Cardiff, a short walk from the university. The club has 11 courts of mixed surfaces – astro, acrylic and hard court. The clubhouse has a bar and serves hot food and also sells racquets and provides a stringing service.

The sports centre located within the Talybont halls of residence has a newly resurfaced multi-purpose area where we hold further playing sessions on a Thursday evening between 5-7pm.

Team Tennis

The club has 4 teams entered into BUCS – 2 mens and 2 ladies giving a total of 24 team players. Matches and training take place at the Welsh National Tennis Centre which has 6 indoor acrylic courts. Further off-court training includes Strength, Agility and Quickness (SAQ) training, and strength and conditioning training.

Socials

The club holds fortnightly themed socials, so be prepared to be going out in some of the craziest dress up you’ve ever been seen in! Our first social consisted of over 110 people!  The socials are a great place to find new hitting partners and generally meet new friends. By the end of the year you will have a fully accomplished fancy dress wardrobe, provided you haven’t lost it on the night out!
