The band at the Cardiff Students' Union Society Awards 2009

The University Wind Band Society is a fairly large society, with around 80 active members. We give wind, brass and percussion players the opportunity to continue playing whilst at Cardiff. The society is based around our large symphonic wind band; 'The City of Cardiff Concert Band'. We play to a very high level and perform regular concerts throughout the year covering as many genres of music as possible. We also aim to help to set up smaller ensembles, such as brass/wind quintets or jazz groups and provide opportunities for these groups to perform. We will also arrange as many social events as possible, eg. pub crawls, nights out, trips to concerts etc. including our annual Easter tours - 2007 saw us travel to Dublin, Ireland, 2008 to Nantes, France, 2009 to Stuttgart, Germany, 2010 to Dumfries, Glasgow & Edinburgh, Scotland and in 2011 we went to Amsterdam, Holland!

Society Membership
The band and society are open to anyone, regardless of experience or level of playing, although we do recommend a minimum of grade 5. To join, please click here. Rehearsals are held at Crwys Road Methodist Church (opposite Domino's pizza) every Wednesday in term time between 6.30pm and 8:30pm.
